Graduate School Prep Week

Graduate School Prep Week is for any undergrad student interested in advanced education. This week will allow you the opportunity for exposure to different master's and Ph.D programs through info sessions (snacks provided) and a Graduate Student Panel (first 50 students receive free lunch). There will be sessions on Grad School 101, how to fund it, and a day in the life of a grad student.

God's Not Dead

This dynamic presentation will examine the evidence for God from science, philosophy, and history. After the presentation, there will be an opportunity for Q&A (questions and answers). Addison Tweedy has spoken at universities around the world for 25 years. His emphasis as well as his graduate work have focused on the intersection of science and faith and the impact of this dialogue on culture. He will be the host of the evening's event. Dr. Eric Hedin holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Washington and has taught physics and astronomy at Taylor University and Ball State University (BSU) in Indiana and Biola University in California. His BSU course, The Boundaries of Science, attracted national media attention. Dr. Hedin’s recent book, Canceled Science: What Some Atheists Don’t Want You to See, highlights scientific evidence pointing to design.

TASFA Workshop Hosted by CSE

The Center for Student Empowerment is hosting a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) Workshop event. We will be talking about the requirements and process of TASFA. Also, there will be a Q&A following.

The Resilient Coogs Group Session 1 Hosted by CSE

The Center for Student Empowerment (CSE) will host the Resilient Coogs Group Session 1. The Resilient Coogs Group (TRCG) is a student-led program established to support UH students in developing a strong foundation of resilience, contributing to their academic success and personal well-being throughout their college experience. TRCG aims to build community, learn self-compassion, increase self-confidence, practice commitment, and be centered in themselves through college life. This group will be facilitated by students, Graduate Assistants, and Student Interns and overseen by Juliet Ogbonna (LMSW) and other CSE staff. Top of Form TRCG will be provided in two (2) sessions of five (5) weeks each on Wednesdays excluding those of Circle Time With CSE.

American Medical Student Association (AMSA) General Meeting 2: Emergency Room Medical Physician

Piracy and the Spanish Empire in the Pacific

Join us for an enlightening public talk by Dr. Kristie Flannery, Research Fellow at Australian Catholic University, as she explores the role of piracy in the history of the Philippines. Her insights will be based on her recent book, Piracy and the Making of the Spanish Pacific World. The event will feature an opening performance by the UH Filipino Student Association. This engaging talk is free to attend, includes catered refreshments, and is open to the public.
