I have a central.uh.edu account, but I am not receiving PureMessage Quarantine Digest Messages. Why not? There are several possible reasons:
- You have a Central.uh.edu account, but you redirect your mail to an external mail address (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.). PureMessage services are only utilized for central.uh.edu mailbox destinations.
- You have not received any spam sent to the Quarantine site in the last 24 hours. You will only receive a digest message if you have had mail sent to the Quarantine site within the last 24 hours.
- You have manually configured your mail account to opt out of PureMessage services. To change this option, login to the Quarantine site (Qsite.uh.edu) and select Options.
- You have configured a desktop filtering rule that is redirecting the Digest Messages to somewhere other than your Inbox. Verify your filtering rules are configured to meet your current needs.

Why am I receiving multiple Quarantine Digest Messages every day?By design, users receive Quarantine Digest Messages for each email alias they are the owner of. In some cases, there are multiple people who are listed as the owners of an alias, i.e. a departmental alias. In those cases, all of the owners will receive the same digest message for that alias, so any of the owners could choose to release quarantined messages. If you do not want to receive a digest message for a specific alias, login to the Quarantine site (Qsite.uh.edu) with that alias and configure the Options to not receive digest messages. Most users only have one alias, and therefore will only receive one digest message.

How does the PureMessage software decide what messages to send to the Quarantine site and which messages to send to my Inbox? The PureMessage software scans the incoming mail at the UH.EDU gateway and assigns each message a Spam Score. Based on the Spam Score, the mail is processed as follows:
0-50% Delivered as good mail
51-80% Possible spam — Flagged and delivered to user mailbox
81-90% Probable spam — Delivered to Quarantine folder (not counted against user mailbox quota)
91-100% Unwanted spam — Blocked and not delivered

What is a Spam Score and how is it calculated?PureMessage contains several hundred spam tests that analyze individual characteristics of each message. Each of these tests has a numerical weight. When a message is analyzed by PureMessage, the weights from all the spam tests that matched the message are added up and converted to a spam score that expresses the message's spam probability or "spam score."
