Ta-Nehisi Coates Reading & Visiting Arte P├║blico Press

Here at the University of Houston, we are fortunate to have access to a wealth of expertise, innovation, and exciting guest speakers.  In Fall 2019, the Mellon Research Scholars workshopped graduate applications, attended the Inprint Margarett Root Brown Reading Series featuring Ta-Nehisi Coates, and learned about #usLdh at Arte Público Press and their work Recovering the US Hispanic Literary Heritage.

Collaboration with UTSA

In April 2019 the UH Mellon Research Scholars met with Mellon recipients from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). The event began with a mixer in the Honors College Commons. This was an occasion for the students from both campuses to meet, and for the program coordinators at both universities to share and collaborate on their respective programs. After the mixer, the students attended panel discussions at the 2019 Latino Art Now! Houston conference, held at the University of Houston.
