Elaine Fiala has been with the University of Houston for nearly 15 years. She started as the executive secretary to the director of finance and operations in Plant Operations. Fiala transitioned two years later to work for the Health Law & Policy Institute in the Law Center. After working there for 11 years, she was promoted as the executive administrative assistant to Provost Paula Short. After almost two years, Fiala was promoted to assistant to the dean of the Honors College.
