The Phi Beta Kappa Honors Academy is a free one-day summer institute for promising high school students who are nominated by their school counselors. The academy is co-sponsored by the Honors College, a vibrant hub of engaging coursework, rich student life, community collaboration, and co-curricular programming at the University of Houston, and the Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Association of Houston. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious honor society in America and celebrates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences.

The Phi Beta Kappa Honors Academy will consist of workshops, talks, and discussions led by Phi Beta Kappa alumni and University of Houston professors. Students will learn how a broad liberal arts education, including study abroad experiences, language acquisition, musical study, and coursework in the humanities, liberal arts, and sciences, can cultivate academic and professional excellence in any field.

Courses from previous academies include "Telling Your Story: Writing the Personal Statement," "The Story of Science," "Assessing the Presidential Candidates," and others.
