Engaging Students with Online Teaching Microsoft Teams
Thursday, July 23, 4-5 pm
Presenter: Sarah Larsen, Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School and faculty panelists
Description: In this workshop, techniques for engaging students in the synchronous online classroom/laboratory using Microsoft Teams will be discussed. Students will also be introduced to the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) online resources.

Library Open Forum Series for Graduate Students
July 13-17
Description: The University of Houston Libraries announces a series of online open forums to be held during the week of July 13-17. The series, geared toward graduate students, will provide an overview of library services. Librarians will explain how these services are related to graduate study, research, and teaching, and how librarians work with graduate students.

Selecting Journals for Academic Publishing

Description: You want to get your work published, but how do you choose a journal? In this workshop, we will discuss how to make a choice and the factors that could impact your decision. You will also learn where to find journal information (e.g., publishing cycle, impact factors, acceptance rate, legitimacy). Several resources that would help you make a selection will be introduced.

Reference Management Tools Workshop

Description: Reference management tools such as Endnote, Mendeley, and Zotero help you to store and organize citations during your research, and insert in-text citations and generate bibliographies in various styles during your writing. This workshop will introduce the benefits of using a citation manager, explain the different features and fee structures, and show you how to get started.
