To better serve the needs of the university community, in 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, Environmental Health and Life Safety (EHLS) department was reorganized into two offices- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and the Fire and Life Safety (FLS).
Having been a part of the University of Houston community for decades, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) website at https://www.uh.edu/ehs is now redesigned with new functionalities to enhance user experience.
Vital to providing a positive user experience, is a clean and responsive design which aligns with the University of Houston brand. A streamlined navigation to increase the efficiency and appeal is complemented with resources for target audiences. From Microsoft Edge and Chrome to Firefox and Safari, the site is compatible with multiple browsers and mobile devices. We are optimistic that the streamlined navigation and responsive design will increase usability for all site visitors and allow us to reach a fast-growing population of mobile device users.
The website roll-out, which will happen in phases launches after extensive quality checks and review from UH Web Technologies and UH Marketing and Branding. The legacy Environmental Health and Life Safety (EHLS) website will remain accessible for a period to facilitate a smooth transition with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program pages automatically redirecting users to the new website.
EHS contact information will remain the same; we ask for your patience during this transition. Contact EHS for comments or feedback about the site and EHS programs at 713-743-5858 or ehs@uh.edu.
