Admission/Orientation

Recruitment for UH CAMP continues throughout the calendar year; however, applying early is strongly encouraged, particularly if you need UH scholarships.

Already Admitted? 

If you have already been admitted to the University of Houston and the UH CAMP program, congratulations! We are excited you have chosen UH. Go Coogs! To confirm your attendance, contact Luis Vasquez, UH CAMP curriculum program director, at lavazqu5@central.uh.edu.  

The UH orientation and CAMP orientation will take place from Jan. 10 through Jan. 15, 2021.  

UH CAMP Orientation 

CAMP students should make arrangements to arrive at Farish Hall on Sunday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m.

During orientation, students will define their college majors. They will work with the CAMP staff and program director Laura Jacobs. They will discuss the important behaviors of behaving like a UH CAMP family. They will work on trust, support, and leadership building and participate in relationship-building activities. All University and CAMP regulations will be reviewed. The UH and CAMP staff will: 

  • Introduce you to the academics at UH 
  • Guide you to resources that will help you be successful at UH 
  • Help you enroll for your classes 
  • Introduce you to several campus services 
  • Address academic as well as student life expectations and responsibilities 
  • Teach you about housing information and residence halls 
  • Introduce you to several campus services 

What to bring for orientation: 

  • Copy of parents' signed 1040 and W2s 
  • Copy of your passport 
  • If you do not have a passport, you will need to bring the full-page state-certified birth certificate (not the wallet size). 
  • State identification 
  • Social Security card (only if you plan to seek employment) 
  • Proof of medical coverage 
  • Official high school and dual enrollment transcripts 
  • Athletic shoes (required at times) 
  • Comfortable clothing 
  • Alarm clock 
  • Hygiene products (shampoo, toothbrush, etc.) 
  • Winter clothing 
  • Computer/laptop
