Teacher Education Program

Welcome to the Teacher Education Program!

Welcome to the award-winning UH Teacher Education Program—Tier 1 teacher preparation at the University of Houston!

The UH Teacher Education Program is committed to providing you with a successful and rewarding experience as you grow in your teaching skill, knowledge, and talent. More than 90% of students who finish our teacher preparation program typically pass the state TExES certification exam.

This Online Handbook contains the most essential information for pursuing certification in combination with approved undergraduate, post baccalaureate, and graduate teacher preparation programs at the University of Houston. As a Teacher Education candidate, you are responsible for reading and understanding all of the information contained within this Online Handbook. You should schedule a meeting with your education advisor in 160 Farish Hall* to file your official degree or certification plan when you begin the program and then every semester thereafter to have your questions answered and to ensure that you will meet all required benchmarks as you advance through the Teacher Education program.
