Spring 2015 Convocation

Students posing at the Athletics Center before ConvocationThe College of Education honored graduates at the Spring 2015 Graduation Convocation which was held at Hofheinz Pavilion on Thursday, May 14, 2015.  Robert McPherson, Dean of the College of Education, greeted and congratulated each of our students as they walked across the stage.

“Graduation is a special time of visions realized, and goals met. Each student was nurtured and supported by our excellent faculty and staff and I'm proud to be part of such an amazing team," said McPherson.  "As I look to the future and imagine the impact each College of Education graduate will have in their chosen fields, I am honored to be a part of their journey and know that they will make an impact through teaching, leadership, health promotion, counseling, and research.”

Among those who participated from the College of Education were students receiving doctoral, master's and undergraduate degrees. Jamie Dobbins, who received a B.S. in Teaching & Learning, served as a banner bearer during the Convocation.

McPherson also hosted the College of Education Graduate and Undergraduate Graduation Receptions on May 14th which were held at the Hilton University of Houston,  and the KIVA Farish Hall respectively.

Hutchison was particularly proud of the support from the faculty. "During our students’ journeys to reach their graduation, they received significant academic scaffolds from their professors," she said.

Graduating students brought family and friends to the receptions, which provided students an opportunity to share parting words with their favorite faculty and staff members.

"It was nice to see all the faces of my fellow graduating peers and the professors who all supported me throughout my undergraduate career," said Sarah Childress, B.S. in Health. "I feel that the reception was an important addition to my day as a proud graduating College of Education student."

The College of Education would like to thank the hard working student and staff volunteers who helped make the convocation and receptions a great success.
