Former College of Education Chair to Receive APA Award

Rod GoodyearFormer Educational Psychology Department Chair for the College of Education, Dr. Rod Goodyear will be the recipient of the American Psychological Association’s 2015 Distinguished Career Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology Award.  

In addition to his contributions to his profession, Dr. Goodyear served the College of Education as the Interim Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Chair of the Educational Psychology Department during a critical transition period for the College. “Dr. Goodyear is worthy of this recognition and together with the College we celebrate his accomplishments and honor his service to the University of Houston, College of Education. Once a Cougar, always a Cougar,” said Dean Bob McPherson.

Dr. Goodyear has made many enduring professional and scholarly contributions to the preparation of professional psychologists generally, and to Counseling Psychologists specifically.  “Counseling psychology and the Society of Counseling Psychology—through a membership of well-trained/well-prepared/well-educated counseling psychologists—is indebted to Rod’s many contributions to, and his leadership in, the education and professional training of today’s counseling psychology students and the field’s current leaders,” said James Lichtenberg, President of the American Psychological Association’s Society of Counseling Psychologists.
