Leading the Way Through Tough Times

Tracy GinsbergTracy Ginsburg serves as the Executive Director for the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) and has over 30 years of public school district experience, most recently serving as the Chief Financial Officer for Fort Bend ISD. Prior to joining Fort Bend ISD, Ginsburg served as the Chief Financial Officer for Round Rock ISD and in El Paso and Socorro ISDs as an auditor and business official.

She received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston in 2012 and has a passion for public education. She is the recipient of the 2009 Austin Business Journal, Non-Profit CFO of the Year, 2011 TASBO Commitment to Excellence Award, and the 2013 ASBO Eagle Award, all of which recognize her commitment to best practices in school finance and operations in the field of education.

This past year she was the only school CFO to testify in the school finance lawsuit, where she provided information on instructional issues and the impact of financial resources on student achievement.

“I think I brought structure to the finance team [at Fort Bend ISD], and we just aligned systems and processes,” says Ginsburg. “When we went through the two years of such rough budget cuts, it was tough, but I have to say, I have the strongest team I've ever worked with here. I'm very proud of them.”

Not only is Ginsburg proud of her team, but the College of Education is very proud of her as well.

Anthony Rolle, Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, says, “Dr. Ginsburg offers an equally strong blend of practical and professional experiences in her education service activities that support multiple aspects of economic, financial, political, and policy issues in human resource and organizational management. There is no doubt that I am extremely humbled to have Dr. Tracy Ginsburg representing the UH Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies as an alumnus.”

Thank you for all you do, Dr. Ginsburg. You are the Pride!
