TExES Superintendent - Ed.D. in Professional Leadership - K-12

Due to the critical role the superintendent plays in school district effectiveness and student achievement consistent with the Texas Education Code (TEC), §242.1, the rules adopted by the State Board for Educator Certification ensure that each candidate for the Superintendent Certificate is of the highest caliber and possesses the knowledge and skills necessary for success (Title 19, TAC §242).  The Education Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Professional Leadership program emphasizes the training and coursework necessary for obtaining the knowledge, skills, and attributes for becoming an educational leader.

The TExES Superintendent (195) certification is offered through the Ed.D. program.  Students are expected to complete all pre-requisite courses and internship requirements for the degree and certification; a certification workshop will be provided to help students identify areas for deeper study for the state exam.

Once admitted, the student will meet with a program area faculty advisor to fulfill the college and state requirements for certification.

Please review the COE Certification webpage for application and additional information.
