Within the last month, the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services has hired new staff for many of our departments and programs. Please see below for a brief introduction of each employee. When you see them around campus, be sure to give them a warm welcome to the University of Houston.

Douglas Eck
Assistant Dean of Students, Dean of Students Office

At UH, Doug will primarily work with student conduct and student advocacy processes, while supporting other DOS programs and functions.

Prior to arriving in Houston, Doug served as the associate director of Residence Life at Lake Forest College, north of Chicago. Doug’s career in Student Affairs began at Western Illinois University (WIU) as an undergraduate student. After graduating from WIU, Doug pursued graduate studies at the Ohio State University where he graduated in 2004 and worked for the following seven years in a variety of housing and residence life capacities. Doug has served as a co-lead facilitator for LeaderShape, Inc. since 2006 and is a proud alumnus and advocate of Semester At Sea, having sailed during the summer of 2007. A native of Illinois, Doug is excited to leave the snow and cold behind for the warm Texas weather and to be a part of a large campus community once again.

Maria Gaston
Multicultural Recruitment Coordinator, Admissions

Maria comes to UH from the University of North Texas, where she served as the Houston regional admissions counselor. A native Houstonian and graduate of Baylor University, we know that Maria will be an outstanding addition to the Freshman Admissions team! She can be reached at mgaston@uh.edu or 832-842-9043.

Luke Parnell
Media Services Coordinator, University Centers

Luke will assist with the operations of the audio/visual department and provide technical support for events throughout the UC. For the past three years, Luke has worked for PSAV as an audio/visuals technician, where he was involved with setup/tear-down and live operation of a large array of equipment for many large company clients. Luke’s extensive knowledge of gear and excellent customer service will be a great addition to our department.

Lecita Lacey
Nurse, Health Center

Lecita has worked in clinical and hospital settings, and specializes in caring for patients with cerebral vascular accident (CVA), before coming to UH. She acquired a tremendous amount of expertise during her 14 years of nursing experience. Lecita takes great pride in her profession; her passion has always been providing quality care and serving her patients with integrity and compassion. She attended Lone Star College-Montgomery and received her associate degree in Nursing.
