On June 8, Dr. Michael Fain, director of UH Forensics, received a letter stating that he has been appointed as a member of the State Bar of Texas standing committee on Law Focused Education for the period June 2012 through June 2015. This ten-member committee directs and encourages the studies of social studies and law at Texas' 1,500+ high schools, culminating in an annual contest run by the State Bar of Texas at its June convention. Fain was first appointed to this committee when he served as Director of UIL Activities for the 300+ schools of the Houston I.S.D. (2006–2008). Dr. Fain commented, “It is very humbling that this appointment is based solely on my community efforts with the University of Houston.” The Division of Student Affairs applauds Dr. Fain for receiving the great honor and acknowledge his continued dedication to supporting speech and debate through the UH Forensic Program and UH Forensic Society.
