Kimberly Shaw-Reed was awarded the Edward S. "Beanie" Drake Founders' Award at this year’s Association of College Unions International (ACUI) annual conference in Chicago, Illinois. Shaw-Reed currently serves as associate director for the Student Centers. Nominators explained how Shaw-Reed lives out the values of the institution and ACUI through her professional role and campus committees. She takes on leadership roles to assist her colleagues toward success and finding ways to support all students. Due to her exceptional ability to foster relationships, the reach of the student centers on campus has expanded to campus partners that were unaware of what was available.

Eve Esch, executive director for student centers, said “Kim has exemplified the mission of the university since her arrival on campus, just two years ago. This scholarship will provide the opportunity to take advantage of one of the many educational activities that ACUI has to offer, which will be a benefit to Kim and the rest of the Student Centers team”.

The Edward S. "Beanie" Drake Founders' Award recognizes an individual in the midst of their career who has exemplified the values and mission of their institution and ACUI. This award intends to inspire recipients by providing financial support for an educational activity that will develop them as a leader.

“I am grateful for Kim and her leadership as a part of our Student Center team. I am excited for Kim as this year’s Beanie Drake Founders’ Award recipient and for the professional opportunities in her future,” stated Dr. Daniel Maxwell, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services.

Please join us in recognizing Shaw-Reed on her achievements.
