For the first time since 2017, Enrollment Services callers will hear new voices on the other end of the line.

“We were searching for fresh, new voices for the recorded messages callers hear when they are on hold in the Enrollment Services Call Center queues. This is our second competition, and we needed additional voices for continuity,” said Pamela R. Ogden, Enrollment Services Call Center Operations Manager.

These recorded messages inform callers of important announcements, upcoming due dates, and helpful procedural information.

Flake, Guichard and Lopez all work in the Office of Admissions, located within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services.

Contestants auditioned by submitting voice sample recordings and were judged based on their enunciation, pacing of speech, articulation, and tone of voice.

“Initially, I didn’t think I’d have a shot at being chosen,” said Guichard. “I’ve constantly been told that I have a good voice, but I’ve never had the chance to use it in a recorded format. Maybe this could be the start of something that I can turn into a future for myself.”
“I was so excited to receive the email that I was chosen to represent the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services as one of the voiceovers! As a performer, it has been hard not utilizing my theatre degree every day, and this opportunity will give me something to add to my resume to hopefully get back into voiceover work,” said Flake.

The winners were selected by the Enrollment Services leadership team and were awarded a collection of University of Houston gear. They join the current Enrollment Services Call Center voices of Jason Richard in the Office of Admissions, and Nia Rector in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
