September 19: Learning Abroad Fall Fair

Because the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences encourages our students to travel abroad, this event, hosted by the learning abroad office, is an opportunity for students to get program information from faculty leaders, affiliated providers, exchange partners, scholarship representatives, student groups and more. Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies invites you to learn more about their courses and academic offerings, connect with faculty and students, learn about upcoming events and activities, and view current exhibit of sections from the Carey Shuart Archive & Research Collection. The Department of Modern and Classical Languages presents a lecture by Loyola Marymount University professor Kevin Wetmore titled, "Back in the Day: The Seven, Hamilton and Hip-Hop History on the Classical Stage." Leading digital humanities scholar and historian Dr. Tom Scheinfeldt will give a presentation titled, “Collaborative Creativity: What Art and Design Can Teach Humanities Scholars About Working Together” from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Agnes Arnold Hall, room 210. Dr. Scheinfeldt’s talk is supported by the Center for Public History Lecture Series, and the event is part of the Organization of American Historians Distinguished Lectureship Program. Get ready for Houston's book and arts festival that highlights Hispanic writers and showcases the vibrant culture of the Latino community. The keynote speaker is Alfredo Quinones Hinojosa, M.D., former neurosurgeon at John Hopkins Hospital and current chair of neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic.
