April 28: Clinical Psychology Graduate Research Showcase

The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences’ Department of Psychology will showcase student research and host an informal discussion in this one day event at the MD Anderson Library- Rockwell Pavilion from 9a.m. – 6p.m. Besides student research presentations, the program will have a keynote address by UH alumni Angela Stotts, Ph.D. Dr. Stotts is currently Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the McGovern Medical School- UT Health Science Center at Houston. Students, faculty, and alumni are welcome to attend. Attendees and guests are also invited to attend a social hour for mingling and networking. learn more

April 28: $tart $mart Salary Negotiation Workshop

$tart $mart is an interactive American Association of University Women workshop designed to give college women the confidence and skills they need to earn fair compensation. Hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences’ Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies program, this event will take place from 9a.m. – 12p.m. in 210 Agnes Arnold Hall. learn more

May 4: Senior Celebration hosted by the CLASS Coogs Student Organization

CLASS Coogs invite all College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences undergraduates to decorate their graduation caps! All decorating supplies, food, snacks, and soft drinks are provided for free during this event which will take place in Agnes Arnold Hall, room 210 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (arrive no later than 4 p.m.) learn more

May 11: Mayor Sylvester Turner to offer keynote at African American Studies Annual Scholarship Banquet

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences’ African American Studies program will be hosting their annual scholarship program at 7 p.m. Mayor of the city of Houston, Sylvester Turner, will be the featured keynote speaker. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for undergraduate and graduate student scholarships. The event will be held at The Power Center, 12401 S. Post Oak Road, Houston, TX 77045. Ticket price is $100. learn more

May 14: College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Convocation

CLASS Convocation will take place at NRG Stadium at 9 a.m. Guest tickets are not required for this event. Families and friends are encouraged to attend. At CLASS Convocation all graduation candidates will be individually recognized – each have the opportunity to have their names (along with any honors) called as they cross the ceremonial stage. learn more

May 22-26: Boldface conference

The Boldface Writers Conference is the only conference in the U.S. dedicated to emerging writers. The conference targets undergraduate students and other emerging writers who are eager to hone their craft in an intensive week of workshops, crafts talks, and readings. Boldface is sponsored by Glass Mountain, the undergraduate literary journal in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston, and meets in the Honors College located in the M.D. Anderson Library. learn more
