Dr. Sahar Hamzah is an Assistant Professor in the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston. She received her Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies from Queen Margaret University, specializing in Adaptation Studies.
Her primary focus of research was the films of Sir Kenneth Branagh in his post-Shakespeare era and his status as auteur. She did her undergraduate work in Film Production and has directed three short films and a feature-length documentary film entitled “Hope in the Darkness: The Sinking of the Seistan.”
She previously attended the 12th Association of Adaptation Studies Annual Conference in 2017 where she presented her paper “The Forgotten Hypotext: Origins of Star Trek and the United Federation of Planets.” Dr. Hamzah is a Blackmagic Design Trainer and Ambassador and a Certified DaVinci Resolve colorist and trainer.
