Center for Mexican American and Latino/a Studies Excellence Endowment

The Center for Mexican American and Latino/a Studies has established an endowment to help support its programs and services to include recruitment and retentions activities such as tutoring and mentoring, under graduate and graduate scholarships, the Visiting Scholars Program, and general operating expenses.

The campaign is an opportunity for Houstonians to join together in support of our city's leading organization for Hispanic higher education.

Why an Endowment?

As the Latino population of Houston and the university grows, the Center…grows, the Center requires additional resources to meet the high demand for its programs and services.

The CMAS endowment will provide a reliable stream of revenue for support. This dedicated source of long-term funding will help the Center withstand the evitable fluctuations in philanthropic support, and enable it to serve its students better in the present as well as to plan more effectively for the future.

Raising the educational level of Latino students is a long-term effort, and it is essential that resources be available to support this effort over time.
