CDI is proud to celebrate heritage month observances. This spring 2022 semester, we will be observing Black History Month in February, Women's History Month in March, and Asian Pacific Islander and Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month in April. We will be creating a calendar with campus-wide events celebrating these observances. Submit your department or organization's event via Microsoft Form today!

Opportunities for Faculty and Staff Collaboration

  • Achievement Initiative for Marginalized Males

Nominate students for our Achievement Initiative for Marginalized Males (AIMM) which provides personal, academic, and professional opportunities for young men of color through mentorship, academic resources, and service-learning.

  • Cultural Connect Week

Join us for a week-long celebration in the spring that celebrates the various aspects of diversity and inclusion of our community. Past partnerships have included guest lectures, panels, facilitated group discussions, dance lessons, and more. There are endless possibilities for programming!

  • Diversity Institute

This Institute aims to enhance the cultural knowledge of students, faculty, and staff through workshop sessions, keynote speakers, and cross-cultural dialogue. Consider presenting your research or interest at this annual one-day conference in the spring.

  • Diversity Workshops

The Center provides a variety of interactive workshops aimed at transforming lives through cultural awareness and understanding. CDI can track student attendance for extra credit or provide customized workshops for your class, group, or department.

  • Fall Speaker Series

Partner with us in hosting nationally recognized speakers who are dedicated to providing insight and knowledge on various social justice issues.

  • Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Coaching

Our staff are qualified administrators of the IDI. This tool can be used to develop intercultural competence through one-on-one coaching and group strategy-building sessions.

  • MLK Celebrations

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration is an opportunity for the University of Houston community to celebrate and reflect on the legacy and life of civil rights leader Dr. King. Collaborate with us in memorializing the work and accomplishments of one of the most prominent African American leaders in modern history.

  • REACH Diversity Peer Educators

Do you work with a student organization or group seeking additional engagement in diversity and inclusion competency? Our REACH Diversity Peer Educators (RDPE) can provide introductory level cultural awareness for your students through peer education.
