Signature Workshop Descriptions

All dates for fall 2021 workshops have passed. Check back in January for our spring 2022 workshop dates, and follow us on Instagram for more information!

What does diversity even mean and why does it matter? This foundational workshop will explore the multiple dimensions of diversity and give participants the chance to explore how personal and cultural identities relate to their lived experiences. Everyone will leave with approaches to working effectively across difference.

The language we use is powerful and can influence our ability to connect with other people. This workshop will equip you with inclusive language practices, and will provide immediately applicable approaches for intentionally engaging in meaningful conversations.

Have you ever offended someone but didn't know why? This interactive workshop provides participants with awareness and understanding of the ways words and actions can unconsciously and consciously communicate derogatory or hurtful messages to others.

Participants will dig deeper into their experiences by exploring how identities and society are informed by experiences of power and privilege, and ways we can become better allies to alleviate barriers.

By providing relevant knowledge, skills and resources, this training is designed to help educators, staff, and students become allies for the undocumented student population in their lives.

People often want to talk about Race and Racism, but many have no clue what they are and their origins in the United States. This workshop will provide historical context about race and racism in the United States and their impact on American institutions, and will explore the concept of being anti-racist.

Diversity 201 is a continuation of our foundational workshop, Diversity 101. Through reflection of personal and cultural identites, participants will explore intersectionality and explain how those identities work together to shape our experiences.

In collaboration with the UH LGBTQ Resource Center, this workshop was designed to educate UH students, faculty, and staff on terminology, pronouns, heteronormative privilege, and inclusive practices in support of the LGBTQIA community.
