The Unsung Masters: Bert Meyers

Thursday, March 30, 2023

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please join The Unsung Masters Series as we welcome Dana Levin and Adele Elise Williams, who will be discussing and reading from the work of a wildly under-recognized voice in Jewish American poetry, Bert Meyers.

Hailed as an “American original” by Ilya Kaminsky and “a colossal talent” by Philip Levine, Meyers is the author witty, brilliant, often heart-breaking poetry that is as urgent and relevant today as ever.

The Unsung Masters Series seeks to bring new attention to authors who have been unjustly overlooked or forgotten by history through the publication of an annual volume devoted not just to the work, but to shining light on authors’ lives and contexts.

All attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Bert Meyers: on the Life and Work of an American Master, edited by Dana Levin and Adele Elise Williams.

Guggenheim Fellow Dana Levin is the author of five collections of poetry, most recently Now Do You Know Where You Are, a 2022 New York Times Notable Book and Lannan Literary Selection.

Adele Elise Williams is a PhD candidate in Literature and Creative Writing at The University of Houston, a finalist for The Georgia Review’s 2022 Loraine Williams Poetry Prize and the winner of the Emily Morrison Poetry Prize.
