NSM Movie Night: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
Thursday, February 17, 2022
6:30 pm - 9:15 pm
What would you do if your cells were taken without your knowledge and used to fuel an entire chapter of scientific evolution, complete with new experiments and discoveries? That’s what happened to Henrietta Lacks, an African-American woman from Virginia who visited Johns Hopkins for cervical cancer treatment. Dr. Tasneem Bawa-Khalfe, assistant professor of biology and biochemistry, and Dr. Linda Reed, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences associate professor of African-American history, will walk us through Henrietta’s incredible story for our first movie night of 2022.
