About the CS Alumni Speakers

Estefannie Explains It All (’14)

Critically acclaimed as “The Queen of Un-shoddy Robots” by Raspberry Pi, Estefannie is a computer scientist, software engineer, electrical engineer wannabe, and content creator.

Estefannie graduated summa cum laude in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Mathematics minor from the University of Houston and began work as a software engineer at National Oilwell Varco. She later became a software engineering lead and led a team of five software engineers on multiple production projects. During the evenings, after work, Estefannie taught herself basic electrical engineering principles and decided to share her process of prototyping on her Instagram and YouTube channels.

During her time at the University of Houston she founded the Computer Science Girls organization which is still standing strong, to reach out to women interested in technology and help promote their career advancement. She also did digital image processing research in the Quantitative Imaging Lab and received the Difference Maker award for her contributions to women in technology. Estefannie’s commitment to the engineering and scientific communities transcended her undergraduate studies as she continues to participate as a speaker, judge, and organizer of multiple conferences, competitions and hackathons worldwide.

In 2019, Estefannie quit her full-time job as a software engineering lead to pursue her passion of programming, electronics, and sharing her projects online in the hopes of inspiring others to pursue a STEM career.
