Drug Discovery: The Size Evolution

This seminar will discuss how the landscape of drug discovery has been changing, from the traditional small molecules, to macromolecules, to microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria, and to cell-based therapies.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Shaun Xiaoliu Zhang obtained his M.D. degree from Tongji Medical University and his Ph.D. from the Australian National University. He joined UH in 2009 after serving as a faculty member at Baylor College of Medicine for 10 years. His research focuses on the development of biotherapies for important diseases such as malignant tumors and viral infections. His research continues to be funded by the National Institute of Health, the U.S. Department of Defense, CPRIT, and various private foundations.
