CounterCurrent is a free festival of performance, installation and ideas presented by the University of Houston Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts.

Once upon a time, a young American woman returned to her native Russia to brush up on the language. Underneath a glamorous Post-Soviet Moscow she discovers an enchanted motherland teeming with evil stepmothers, wicked witches and ravenous bears.

The Moores School of Music celebrates the achievements of two outstanding public school choirs, Klein Oak High School Varsity Women and North Shore High School Varsity Men’s Choir, at this inaugural event. The University of Houston’s ManCorps and Concert Women’s Chorus will also perform during the event.
