Downsizing through Movement is an eight-week program that uses a three-pronged approach to helping participants bring their body fat percentage to a healthy range by providing education, activity, and behavior change support. In conjunction with the exhibition, What We Left Unfinished, Blaffer Art Museum invites you to explore the related project, Index of the Disappeared, with Christian Kelleher, Head of Special Collections for the University of Houston Libraries. Conceived and performed in collaboration with artist Chitra Ganesh, Index of the Disappeared is a physical archive of post-9/11 disappearances and a mobile platform for public dialogue.
Women on Weights teaches women proper weight-lifting etiquette, technique, and routine. The goals are to assist women in improving posture, increasing strength and optimizing body composition. (Registration closes Jan 19).
The Piano + series performs thought-provoking, jazzy and emotionally-charged works by Crumb and Daugherty, both inspired by Bartók and also features a world premiere of “Upshot” by UH faculty member, Blake Wilkins. UH faculty members Timothy Hester, Tali Morgulis, Andrew Staupe, Brian Suits, Alec Warren, Blake Wilkins will perform.
