Keck Foundation Outreach Visit to UH

The Keck Foundation representatives Dr. Tom Rieker and Dr. Thanassis Sambanis will visit the UH campus for an Outreach Visit. Drs. Rieker and Sambanis will give a presentation on the Keck overview and mission with faculty. They will discuss types of high-risk proposals that they and their Board are looking to fund and what they've already funded. The presentation will be followed by an interactive Q&A session.

Director's Faculty Artist Series: Samuel Barber Tribute

Curated by Timothy Hester The Moores School of Music will celebrate the music of Samuel Barber (1910-1981), the gifted American Composer who infused expressive romantic lyricism into 20th-century classical music. Pre-concert remarks and program notes will be given by Dr. Howard Pollack, UH John and Rebecca Moores Professor of Music History. The performance will showcase 13 faculty members from the string, wind, voice and keyboard areas. Works will include Dover Beach, Summer Music, Piano Sonata, Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and the String Quartet.

This means consideration of everything from how the information technologies enable community resilience to a collapse in privacy; how they reorganize education and contribute to disinformation; how they empower and alienate.
