Abria Magee, Ph.D.

Dr. Magee received her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology & Microbiology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Her dissertation research focused on characterizing extremophilic bacteria strains isolated from a carboxylate biofuel platform for industrially relevant traits. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Magee completed a Therapeutic Microbiology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in the Texas Children’s Hospital Microbiome Center. As a fellow, she explored the use of cutting-edge technology, and applied these technologies to patient care, such as in the exploration and subsequent transplantation of the gut microbiome in a variety of gastrointestinal diseases.

Dr. Magee continued with BCM as a Project Manager for a BCM Technologies portfolio company. Prior to joining the BTI Institute at the University of Houston, she was a Research Development Specialist at the University of Texas Medical Branch where she provided research and grant development support to research and clinical faculty.
