The Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design's Industrial Design program and its alumni are synonymous with success. Students and faculty are notorious for their award-winning work, and their accomplishments continue on into their professional careers. The design methodology and inspiration instilled in students during their academic experience impacts the drive and determination to influence the world in meaningful ways. Recently alumnus Dymon Johnson ' 20 was named a finalist in The International Society of Furniture Designers 2020 Pinnacle Awards and alumnus Mason Lucich '20 is seeing success with his start-up Insu Health Design.

Industrial Design Alumnus Dymon Johnson '20 was recently named a finalist in The International Society of Furniture Designers 2020 Pinnacle Awards. Dymon's furniture concept, The INK SERIES occasional tables incorporated an innovative construction method utilizing compressed laminated recycled newspapers. Jeff Feng and Mark Kimbrough were Johnson's senior thesis advisors last spring.

Start-Up Success for Alumnus Mason Lucich '20
Insu Health Design, founded by ID graduate alumnus Mason Lucich '20, is an innovation and technology-driven corporation focused on creating high-quality, reliable products to enhance and protect the lives of bio-medicine users. INSU Portable is a simple, reliable device to preserve and protect Bio-medication from damage and spoiling. It was developed for the users during the long time power outage after the disasters like hurricanes. But it is widely accepted as a reliable means to preserve medicine even in the normal condition. INSU is simple and easy to use. It maintains a temperature between 2°C - 8°C. The battery lasts 3-5 days on each full charge. It holds a six month supply of bio-medicine in typical use. It is built for transportability and durability, and with a solar charging option as a life-saving device for disaster relief.
This year, INSU Health Design has won some major grants, including the VentureWell Aspire Award Phase 2 awarding a $20,000 award and business mentor training, and $60,000 from the Bravo Family Foundation.
