MARCO Hosts Learning Contemporary Art through American Art & Museums

Dr. María C. Gaztambide was invited to lead a group of U.S.-based art professionals from preeminent arts organizations—including the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York City), the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and The New School (New York City)—in developing and presenting an 8-week online educational program targeting educators and museum professionals in Mexico. Titled Learning Contemporary Art through American Art & Museums, the Spanish-language program took place from November to December 2020 and was hosted by the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO) with the support of the U.S. Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico.

Dr. Gaztambide’s participation in this program heightens international visibility for Public Art UHS and its permanent collection while contributing to the fulfillment of its education and outreach mission in and beyond Houston. Efforts such as this support the long-term strategy of elevating UH and the UH System’s profile in the global arts field.
