Public Art Tours Scheduled Monthly Throughout School Year

Boost

Houston, Oct. 2, 2017 — Public Art at the University of Houston System will be hosting tours from noon to 1 p.m. the first Friday of each month throughout the 2017-2018 academic year.

The first of these events will take place Friday, Oct. 6. All of the tours are free and open to the public but those interested in attending are asked to view the schedule and RSVP for the dates they'd like to attend.

These tours are part of a larger effort by the University to bring greater awareness to the diverse collection that includes artwork from local, regional, national and international artists.

"We want to introduce the public to the collection," said Mike Guidry, curator of Public Art."This is an opportunity for people to enjoy the outstanding artwork on our campuses while learning more about the pieces from a knowledgeable source."

Each month will have its own focus and will also have different guides who will offer unique insight to the pieces viewed that day, so people are encouraged to attend as many of the tours as they can.

A schedule of the tours can be found on the UH Public Art webpage.
