The unique piece, known as "A Comma A," underwent extensive renovation work over the summer that has made it look as new as when it was created in 2003 by artist Jim Sanborn.

"The bronze was thoroughly cleaned and a protective coat was added," said Mike Guidry, curator of the public art collection. "It has been completely restored."

In addition, all screws and bolts were replaced, the lighting was changed, and the entire piece was secured to its foundation with new hardware.

The piece, which is shaped like a comma, features cut-out text in several languages. It is best viewed after dark, when the interior lighting shines the text on the surrounding sidewalk and the side of the library.
