Expect parking impacts and large crowds on football game days

By Jessica Mize

Fresh off their win over the Oklahoma Sooners during the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium, the UH Cougars are enjoying some well-deserved national spotlight as they prepare to tackle the rest of the season.

Thanks to the added attention, UH is anticipating larger-than-ever attendance at the six home games slated to take place in TDECU Stadium this fall.

As the University prepares to welcome these fans, the campus community should prepare for potential parking and transportation impacts that may affect their normal trek to work or class.

A detailed page outlining all of the anticipated street, garage and road closures on campus is available here. Individuals are encouraged to bookmark the page and check back regularly for updates, especially surrounding the two weeknight games scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29 and Thursday, Nov. 17.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work closely with Athletics to develop a plan that meets the needs of our faculty, staff and students, as well as Cougar football fans,” said Bob Browand, director of UH’s Parking and Transportation Services. “This is an exciting time for our University and it’ll take everyone's cooperation to make it a true success.”
