Everyone is encouraged to have an emergency kit

emergency kit

Members of the University of Houston community are encouraged to build their own emergency kit.

September is National Preparedness Month, and all month long the UH Office of Emergency Management has been providing tips and important information on a whole host of different topics.

It is important to have up to a 72-hour supply of food, water and basic supplies on hand in case of emergency. There is no time like the present to be prepared. Little acts of preparedness early can make handling an emergency later much easier. So, pull out an old duffle bag or plastic bin and start filling it with supplies that may be needed in an emergency.

The UH Office of Emergency Management and FEMA’s Ready sites provide resources and information on how to build a kit.
