DR34M grill station opens within Moody Towers Dining Commons

By Richard Zagrzecki

There’s a new station within Moody Towers Dining Commons whose name will ring familiar to fans of the Houston Rockets and UH’s Phi Slamma Jamma dynasty.

The DR34M (Dream 34) grill station opened this semester on the west side of the dining commons near the lounge area. The station is named for Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon, the NBA Hall of Famer who had a long and illustrious career with the Rockets following a successful run as a Houston Cougar, and whose jersey number was 34.

The station – which features a larger-than-life image of Olajuwon smiling at guests from an adjacent wall – is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as during late-night hours. Its daily menu includes such items as hamburgers, turkey burgers, black bean and veggie burgers, chicken tenders and fries. The station will feature specialty burgers on a promotional basis throughout the year.

“Hakeem is one of the most well-known Cougar greats, and so we are excited to have been able to work with him and his representatives to develop this concept,” said Abel Valencia, district marketing manager for UH Dining Services.
