‘Conversations with Staff’ provides chance for feedback

By Peggy Levy

“Conversations with Staff,” which provides a chance to give direct input into issues that concern staff, will be held at the M.D. Anderson Library’s Rockwell Pavilion on Monday, Nov. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

“Conversations with Staff” is a yearly event, sponsored by Staff Council and developed for UH employees to meet and discuss various topics that impact the UH workforce and develop future initiatives.

The purpose of this gathering is to build awareness and create an open dialog to address current and future university-wide activities, in addition to developing cohesion across campus among staff and faculty, and discussing potential implications and collaborations for future improvements.

This year’s “Conversations with Staff” will focus on the following topics:

  • Performance and Evaluations
  • Increasing Morale
  • Making Connections

Suggestions made at previous “Conversations with Staff” events resulted in improvements and changes to the STEP program for current and future supervisors and managers regarding open communication with employees, the Summer Flex-Time program, campus tours and other enhancements to the “New Employee Celebration” program for newly-hired employees. See the Feedback from Staff link for more information about the past “Conversations With Staff.”

Staff Council will continue to work on new initiatives based on employees’ comments and suggestions from this event.
