Faculty, staff needed to make Finals Mania a success

Being able to serve 1,600 hungry students a plateful of pancakes and turkey sausage in a neat and orderly fashion is not an easy task.

But that’s what happens during Finals Mania, a twice-a-year tradition that takes place at the end of the fall and spring semesters to provide students a welcome break from the stress of studying for final exams.

This semester, the two-hour event will take place Monday, Dec. 7, starting at 8:30 p.m. in the Rockwell Pavilion at the M.D. Anderson Library.

Although that’s still several weeks away, the call is going out now to faculty and staff to sign up to volunteer.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles, such as greeting people, helping direct the line of students waiting to be served, manning beverage and toppings stations, and handing out meal tickets.

“This wonderful tradition is only possible with the dedication and devotion of faculty and staff who take time out of their busy lives to help,” said Leighanne Dean, marketing coordinator for Auxiliary Services. “We are very thankful to everyone who volunteers, and we’d love to see new faces join in on the fun.”

Those who are interested in volunteering should contact Dean by email at lndean@central.uh.edu or by phone at 713-743-0991.
