New Security Enhancements at Moody Towers

Renovations will take place at Moody Towers with updates to its main entrances and the installation of card readers. These renovations will enhance security of the building by restricting access to all residential areas.

The security enhancements will improve safety and security for residents in the Towers, said Don Yackley, Executive Director of Residential Life and Housing. The changes will make for a safer and more secure community environment.

The main entrance of Moody Towers will be changed to sliding doors with card readers accessible to residents only. The secondary entry doors will be replaced with glass store-front windows while the doors leading to the stairway will become exit doors monitored by UHPD. The doors leading to Fresh Food Company at Moody Towers will be only accessible to residents as well. Non-residents will be able to enter Fresh Food Company at the bridge entrance near Cougar Village.

Construction began October 20, 2011 and is scheduled to be completed by November 18, 2011.Residents were informed of the ongoing renovation plans and signage will direct residents to accessible entrances of the building throughout construction.
