Be aware of UH�s outdoor warning siren system
Siren awareness posters are posted all over campus.
Be sure and visit
www.uh.edu/emergency so you
will always be ready! The University of Houston�s outdoor
warning siren system is part of the emergency alert notification
system. The system is designed to alert students, faculty, staff
and visitors of impending outdoor danger.
The system is activated by the Department of Public Safety in
the event of an emergency when it may be unsafe to be outdoors.
The system provides a quick method of notifying the entire main
campus with an audible tone that can be heard outdoors alerting
everyone to seek shelter indoors.
During a real emergency, the system is used in conjunction with
other communication channels like email, the
UH
Emergency Operations Center website and text
messaging.
