Frontier Fiesta will have impact on parking

It's that time of year again for Frontier Fiesta, the student-led festival held on campus to promote education, community and scholarships. The annual event is a diverse showcase for the talents of the University of Houston student body.

During the festival, a piece of the campus is turned into a fully functional town called "Fiesta City." There will be live concerts, variety shows by student organizations, carnival booths, multicultural performances, a barbecue cookoff and a baking competition.

Please be aware that this event, which will be March 20-22, will have an impact on parking. Just like last year, Frontier Fiesta will be held on the east side of campus in parking lots 20C and 20A. As a result, some spaces will not be available in the two weeks leading up to the event. Starting March 7, some spaces in lot 20C were taken offline so buildup of Fiesta City can begin. Additional spaces in 20C will go offline on March 14, and on March 19 all of lots 20A and 20C will be closed. Any vehicles remaining in those parking lots after that date will be relocated to another parking lot on campus.

Parkers can take advantage of the parking at the Energy Research Park and use the Cougar Line shuttle service to get to campus. To obtain estimated shuttle arrival times, use CougarTrax on your smart phone at www.uh.edu/cougartraxmobile. For a larger, more detailed map and more information, users can access the non-mobile site on their laptops or computers at www.uh.edu/cougartraxpublic.
