Lazy Cakes - Warning

A popular relaxation food is causing concern to area wide consumers. Lazy Cakes, which appears to be a traditional brownie, are being sold legally in convenience stores across Houston. Each Lazy Cake has eight milligrams of melatonin baked in, enough to create side effects in the healthiest adult. Melatonin is a hormone made by the pineal gland, a small gland in the brain. Melatonin helps control your sleep and wake cycles. Very small amounts of it are found in foods such as meats, grains, fruits and vegetables. You can also buy it as a supplement. As a result of Lazy Cakes being sold as a dietary supplement, they are not under the control of the Food and Drug Administration. "Lazy Cakes" are considered the first legal relaxation brownie; however these treats pose serious health risks. There has been a reported case of an adolescent being rushed to the hospital after biting into this brownie. Please be aware of the possible effects this product may have on you and/or your child.
