NEW EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS TESTED

The University of Houstons Office of Emergency Management learned that the New Emergency Communications System was tested on May 14, as the Gulf Coast Emergency Communications Network are now collaborating with Clear Channel Outdoor to utilize the digital billboards in the case of a natural or man-made disaster. This will benefit the University of Houston student, faculty and staff commuter population as the University of Houstons Emergency Management Bureau will work with the Harris County Homeland Security & Emergency Management - Regional Joint Information Center to alert motorists on Houston roadways. This Alert system ensures that our UH community is informed when time is crucial. The digital billboards will present emergency notification to motorists in the surrounding region. There are 11 billboards in the Harris County area and an additional four more will be added in 30 days.
