Cougar Mover volunteers needed for residential move-in

The call has gone out for members of the University of Houston community to sign up to be a volunteer during the fall residential move-in.

Move-in will take place Aug. 21-23 at the majority of on-campus residential communities, except for Bayou Oaks and Calhoun Lofts, which will be on Aug. 16. Staff, faculty and students can sign up now to work a volunteer shift on as many days as they would like. Signing up to volunteer is simple and is done online. Outside groups are also welcome to volunteer.

Cougar Mover volunteers can choose from a variety of different volunteer positions, whether it is helping to unload belongings from cars, handing out water and snacks, or directing new residents on where to go. There’s also numerous other volunteer roles that need to be filled.

Around 8,000 students are expected to live on campus this fall, making UH one of the largest college residential communities in the entire state of Texas.

Cougar Mover volunteers allow new residents to feel the pride and spirit that is the University of Houston. By lending a helping hand and passing along a smile, these students and their families will see the camaraderie of the UH community and know they made the right choice by coming here. A fantastic first impression will go a long way in helping them attain success.
