UHDPS Police Officers Participate in the Texas Special Olympics
Police Officers from the University
of Houston Department of Public
Safety recently participated in the
annual Texas Special Olympic Torch
Run and ceremonies. The Special
Olympics took place in Arlington,
Texas. Police Lieutenant Dina
Gonzales, Police Officer Jocelyn
Ballard and Police Officer Troy
Golden all participated in the Law
Enforcement Torch Run. Officers from
around the state rallied together
and ran the Special Olympics Torch
to the opening ceremonies. The
beginning leg of the torch run for
the Gulf Coast Region began at the
University of Houston. Leading the
pack were Lieutenant Gonzales and
Officers Ballard and Golden.
Serving the UH community is a plus
but being able to serve in a wider
scale as in the Special Olympics is
something to be proud of.
