BERNIE�S BURGER BUS BRINGS THE SCHOOL HOUSE
BACK TO UH STUDENTS

Turner�s high-profile background as a personal chef may not make
him seem like the most obvious candidate to run a simple yet
delicious burger restaurant out of a refurbished school bus, but
that�s just what he�s been doing since October 2010.
Bernie�s Burger Bus, which was named for Turner�s grandfather,
uses simple and fresh ingredients to create good old-fashioned
hamburgers with a twist. The meat is ground and processed on
site, and all of the toppings have their own twist as well. Take
the ketchup for example; it�s not just your ordinary,
run-of-the-mill ketchup. It is homemade by Turner himself so
that it is fresh and delicious every day.
The menu items are reminiscent of the good-old-days, with names
like �The Principal�, �Recess� and even �Detention�, which is a
monster double-patty burger with two bacon grilled cheese
sandwiches for the bun.
As a testament to the hard work and passion Turner has put into
his ever-growing fleet of trucks (he has two now and is working
on number three), Bernie�s came in at number 28 in Alison Cook�s
list of
Top 100 Houston Restaurants.
That�s not too bad for a place that lacks all of the traditional
conveniences like tables, wait staff and an expanded menu.
So stop by the patio in front of the UC and try out one of
Houston�s best restaurants from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through
Thursday and every other Friday. How�s that for getting Coogs
