Michael Bargas named new UH Dining district executive chef
 
UH Dining Services is proud to announce the addition of Chef Michael Bargas to the team at the University of Houston in the newly created position of district executive chef.

Bargas is a graduate of Princeton University where he not only attained a bachelor�s degree in philosophy, but also developed a passion for food while working in various jobs to support himself.

After graduation, that passion led him to the Culinary Institute of America in New York where he earned an associate of occupational studies degree in culinary arts and later to Argosy University in Pennsylvania where he earned an MBA.

Bargas most recently worked at the Art Institute of Houston serving as the academic director, responsible for overseeing the culinary education of 750 students, and the direction of six staff and 20 faculty members. Additionally, in that position he managed the department schedule, food purchases, the classroom restaurant and the college deli.

Prior to his work at the Art Institute, he worked at one of Houston�s most venerable fine dining restaurants, Masraff�s, as well as contracted food service locations at Memorial Hermann Hospital and Marathon Oil. He has also been featured in print and on the TV shows Great Day Houston, Fox 26 Morning News, and ABC Deals.
