Black Violin sets UH concert date

Black Violin will be bringing its unique blend of jazz, hip-hop, funk and classical music to the University of Houston’s Cullen Performance Hall this spring as part of its Classical Boom Tour.

The concert by the classically trained violist and violinist Wil B. and Kev Marcus will be Saturday, March 10, at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through the Cullen Performance Hall website. They may also be bought on the day of the show at the Cullen Performance Hall box office, while supplies last.

Black Violin combines their classical training and hip-hop influences to create a distinctive multi-genre sound that is often described as “classical boom.”

They served as the house band for ESPN’s Heisman Memorial Trophy Presentation in December for the second consecutive year. The duo composed music for the television series “Pitch,” which debuted on FOX in 2016, in addition to appearances on “The Tonight Show,” “The Wendy Williams Show,” “The Ellen Show” and HBO’s “Ballers.”
